Moved from a D30 to this one. And it added features rather than the other way around. Images are also better. I ran a 17-40/4L with the D30, and now I'm using an old AF 35-135/3.5-4.5. And still images are better. The Canon lens was pretty expensive. As a previous Canon owner I have slight difficulties getting used to the dials on the D70. But no major problem i think. It's a little plasticky, but what isn't today? A Hum-vee maybe.
+ Fast startup, ready to shoot before you get it to your eye.
+ Shoots 9 frames at 3 fps in best jpeg, (4 RAW)
+ Easy access to ISO, WB and Quality settings
+No end when rotating the Mode dial
+No vertical grip. Shoulder loves it
+Better viewfiner info than the D30
+ Fast AF
+ Works fine even for my huge hands
Problems:
- No vertical grip, wrist hates it
- Missing the large dial on the back, as on the Canon cameras
- Icky focus assist light, come back EOS 10s, all is forgiven!!
- Feels slightly more fragile compared to D30
