Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D (Dynax 5D) review

- Good comstruction though it's a bit smaller to my hand; it does feel solid; - updated a rate of 5 - I dropped from 3-feet table, but nothing seems wrong;
- Good battery navigating capacity: about 350 pictures per charge;
- Very user freindly interface;
- Faster focus than my 700si;
- More features than 350D or D50 - that why I chose;
- Effective AS: the best record I made is 1/4 second handheld;
- Image quality is above the par: it looks nicer than 300D I used - the color rendition is better;
- Exposure compensation has the option to alterate both ambient light and flash;
- Good implementation of the WB correction - offering M-G calibration for intermitent light sources (like filters but more accurate);
- Good value for money - it's cheaper than 350D with extra AS, mirror lock-up, spot metering and zone-matching (essential for BW shooting);
- I'd have rated higher if it had come out earlier.

Problems:

- A tendency to under-expose though it can be counter-measured by exposure compensation; I can understand it's engineered to cater to amateur's behavior - making too much blank/highlight area in composing;
- Noisy shutter;
- Reduced monitor resolution;
- Only 4-5x replay magnification;
- Weights 100g heavier than competitors (consider it's small sized and the extra weight counts);
- I don't mention the image quality because it relies largely on the lens and post processing and the difference is nominal; but I just like the color and final result directly out of the camera - I don't wish to sit behind the monitor to process the images unless they're for publishing.
