Konica Minolta DiMAGE X1 review
Konica Minolta DiMAGE X1 review
After using Minolta since 1988, somehow this loyalty stuck. With the Dynax 7000i &
500si SLRs in my cupboard, my first foray into the folded optics of the Dimage series
seemed promising. My ex-stable of the first Dimage X (2MP) and then the Xt (3.2)
seemed antiquated when the new X1 (8MP) debuted this year.
What all the previous 6 reviewers commented were correct. The shutter lag was
excruciatingly slow. Picture quality is also on average, especially when compared to
my aging Olympus C700UZ (2MP) with 10x optical zoom (that's why I'm keeping it!).
The anti-shake works as purported, especially in night neon signage!
Problems:
Bought it prior to testing and found the follow functions MISSING from my old
stable mate the Xt. I thought flagship products should get additions, NOT
OMISSIONS!
• Webcam function • Non-standard USB port underneath camera
• Slide show CANNOT choose selected frames. Show ALL or nothing. This is stupid
• Flash GN is way overrated at DPreview site, up to 5m? Pure nonsense! More like
GN2!
• ISO down to 200 (from 400!) • USB 2.0 STILL no supported!
• Larger than my old xt (New Sonys also smaller & lighter!)
Somehow, I think KONICA MINOLTA should give all existing X1 users a free upgrade
to X2 with all the above fixed!
However, I'll stick keep this as I'm ANTI memory stick and can't live without ANTI-
SHAKE!
8 megapixels • 2.5″ screen • 37 – 111 mm (3×)
