Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 review

I've had the A2 for 11 months now and overall am very pleased with it. I chose it for the high-res EVF, anti-shake, manual zoom and generally its very high specification.
The EVF is very good, miles better than any other digital camera but obviously not as good as an optical viewfinder.
Anti-shake can be astonishing, I have hand held several at 1/10 sec that are pin sharp. However it doesn't always give such good results. Not sure why, but 1 in 10 low speed shots still show camera shake.
The best thing about the camera for me is the handling. All the controls fall easily to hand and all everday functions can be adjusted by the various knobs & switches without wading through several menu screens.
If you have an A2 you must get the Dimage Control software (search the forum for links) This enables you to control your A2 from your PC. Absolutely brilliant & its freeware.
The close up ability of the A2 is very good enabling you to take some excellent macro shots
To summarise: The A2 is an excellent camera, but you have to work at it. It is not really a point & shoot camera. A bit of effort in working around its "quirks" rewards with some superb photographs. Look at any of the KM challenges to see what it is capable of.

Problems:

When I got the camera it would occasionally show vignetting in the corners. This could usually be cured by switching off & back on again. The camera was sent back to KM & repaired under warranty.
As stated in other reviews the auto-focus is sometimes fooled. The viewfinder will show the in-focus symbol when it obviously is not. Sometimes you need to have several attempts to focus before it gives a sharp shot, other times resort to manual focus.
