Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D (Dynax 5D) review

Very happy with this DSLR, it performs better than I expected. Considering it is intended for the amateur market the results are excellent. Its construction is very good, given that it's not for professional use, although it took me some time to get used to plastic body; my latest film SLR, (Minolta, of course) was all metal. AF is birilliantly fast, especially if you are coming from a digicam (however top-scale the camera is) and the viewfinder is one of the best I've seen in DSLRs. Viewfinder is what made me jump into DSLRs, togeether with minimmum shutter lag and 5D is very responsive in this. In terms of exposure consistency, the pictures are very close to those yielded by high-class film dslrs, that is, you have to expose well, since the camera doesn't "fix" the picture for you. This challenge makes taking pics with it very exciting, and the resluts, with perfect exposure, are astonishing.
The only misses, in my opinion, are a larger assortment of direct (no menu) controls, i.e., metering, AF modes etc. But for that there's already the 7D, isn't there?
AS is great for low-light, telephoto work, and very nice for fast street photography.
Highly recommended for first-time DSLR users, and demanding amateurs in general.

Problems:

None so far (1400 pics)
