Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D (Dynax 5D) review

Having experimented with digital cameras for 2 years now (with compact Sony p72 and a Canon G5) Iwanted to leep into a digital SLR with the maximum feature/price capacity. My first thoughts went to the Canon 350d, but having read in a magazine a very positive review of this new Minolta I checked the prices around and leaped for it.
Fisrt impressions were OK. Sturdy to grip and yet light, not feeling cheap (well at least is says made in Malaysia, which is not China). Popped in a 1gb Microdrive and switched it on, auto mode. First shots with default setings and it was pretty good. Fast focus sharp images (well far better than my lazy G5 any way). After some fiddling with the settings and I am now very satisfied although there are still a lot of things that need to be fine-tuned. Will need a photo bank with a 40 gb hard-drive to backup since I am intending on RAW shooting to get the most out of it.
On the plus side I'd mention the Anti-shake, fast focus, pre-selectable modes, the big lcd, and the presets being shown on the lcd.

Problems:

Shooting macro shots with the 18-70mm lens is a wast of time and effort (and as the manual goes the zoom macro lenses don't work good with it either).
6 MP doesn't seem much these days, although the majority of us don't print posters, but we do crop a lot ...
