Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D (Dynax 5D) review

Two weeks ago, I bought a Maxxum 5D and now have the following comments:

PRO

A. Incredible photo quality. Photos have real "snap", even under difficult conditions.
B. Rock solid construction.
C. Outstanding value for money (I paid $765 from B&H with the 18-70 mm kit lens).
D. Superb ergonomics.
E. Menus are very easy to use.
F. Excellent documentation.
G. Old Minolta AF lens work perfectly with the Maxxum 5D....kudos to Konica Minolta for this customer-friendly decision.
H. Fully manual flash. This is much better than flashes that pop up automatically and without warning.
I. Excellent after-market book already available. 20 bucks in .pdf format. (search for Gary Friedman Archives)

CONS

A. Viewfinder relief not sufficient for those that wear eyeglasses...and that is a pity because the viewfinder is excellent. Note that this problem is common amongst point & shoot and dSLR cameras that I've used, not just the Maxxum 5D.
B. Controller on back panel feels a bit flimsy. Does not have good tactile feedback.
C. Noisy mirror.
D. Comes with poor quality strap.
E. No way to tether the lens cap.

SUMMARY: The Maxxum 5D is an astoundingly good camera and some welcome competiton for the Canon-Nikon dSLR duopoly.

Anyone considering a dSLR should really get their hands on a Maxxum 5D (or 7D) before making a decision. For a wide range of users, it is likely to be the "best in class"

Problems:

None so far.
