Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D (Alpha-7 Digital / Dynax 7D) review
1
Specialised in portrets, I waited a long time before going digital for the taking of the pictures. Just because of commercial reasons I bought a 7D, after having used a Nikon D70s for 1 testshoot. For those who doubt : just take the different cameras in your hand and look through the viewfinder, enjoying its luminosity ... allready this makes all the difference ... not CCD/CMOS which in this segment all provide reasonable quality for what you can expect from a digital camera at this cost.
For 32 years now, to me minolta cameras did (and do) their thing without any problems. The 7D feels as good as my X700s and old XM ...
Problems:
- Like all digital stuff, the 7D consumes a lot of electrons. The vertical grip, providing place for 2 batteries is a good solution, and it gives the camera the weight which is needed for good stability (but this is a personal feeling).
- I hope KM will provide specific focal distances for D (though the offer is growing) ... eg. the 85mm(D) on an APS-C sensor is too long for portrets to me.
6 megapixels • 2.5″ screen • APS-C sensor
