Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D (Alpha-7 Digital / Dynax 7D) review
Despite the nearly finsihed sell-off of this camera I think people should rush to get one at that incredible price. I got one for 558 Euro.
First, if camera weight and size is a problem for you - don't buy. This is a serious tool and not a toy. Learning is very quick and the multitude of knobs are very intuitive. Fabrication is excellent. But the main thing is image quality and the images are just terrific. I set sharpness and contrast + 1, and EV + 0,3, and every image comes out like never seen before. You can take hand-held macros of butterflys at 1/30, razorsharp. In near dim light, you can have woderful pictures with ISO 800. In fact, in a mixed series of images taken with ISO 200, 400 and 800, none of the people asked could tell on the screen which was the ISO 800. So, together with AS you can forget completely about the flash. Skin tones are so natural, never seen before. I like the fact, that the flash doesn't pop up.
Overall a wonderful camera with great ergonomics and very fast operation. Bracketing with 3 o 5 images, 03 or 0,5 EV, whatever you can imagine - the camera has it. Fits the large hand very good. Image quality is outstanding and I can't imagine why people are longing for 8 MP or 10 MP. Autofocus is excellent, start time fast enough for me. A camera to grow old with, I hope.
Problems:
White balance in artifical light seems a problem and internal flash is not as smooth as the Fuji flashing. Can spoil images, needs some regulation. Higlight clipping in sunlight is a problem, needs adjustments as well. Mirror slap sound definetely is not discrete, neither is autofocus sound (so both better as on the 5D). Not major issues.
