Nikon Coolpix S1 review
Yes, I had problems with camera shake when I first used the S1, but you have to learn to keep it steady and not move the whole camera when pressing the shutter release. Not having a viewfinder took some getting used to, as my first digital compact, a Pentax Optio 330, had one which I always used.
Younger members of the family always used the screen to compose a shot, and so, took to the S1 more readily.
Now that I've got the hang of it, the S1 goes everywhere, and consequently gets the shots, while my Nikon D70 is left at home, only to be brought out for specific photograpgic outings.
Battery life could be better, but I'm carefull to keep it charged.
Plenty of film cameras had a top shutter speed of 1/350 or less-we didn't complain.
I haven't suffered from the noise problem encountered by other reviewers. When downloaded onto my iBook the pictures compare well with those from my D70 and while they don't print to such a large size, they are fine up to 8x10.
