Olympus D-40 Zoom (C-40 Zoom) review
This was my first digital camera and it was a great buy. I used it heavily for four years, took thousands of pictures, and it showed no signs of wear, except for the icons wearing off the dial.
Simply put, it takes excellent pictures. It is especially good at indoor photography, and it takes beautiful long-exposures as well. The ISO-400 setting has an exceptionally low noise level relative to other cameras made at a similar time.
You can buy this model for well under $100, and for anyone going for a cheap digital camera, I would recommend this one over any of the new, cheaper models on the market.
The startup time is rather slow, and the viewscreen is small; but at the time this camera came out it wasn't that bad relative to others. The only real problem I had with this was that the icons wore off the dial after a couple years of use--but like I said, I gave it pretty heavy use and I'm surprised it held up as well as it did.
