Sigma DP1 review

I have now used the DP1 for almost three weeks and I'm still stunned over the image quality that I get. The lens is just SUPERB and really makes the three layered sensor shine! It's a perfect combo of sharp lens and sharp sensor that make me wanna take MORE photos than I did before.

I have it with me at all times. It's so easy. I never did that with my Fujifilm F30 (p&s) or SD14 (slr) the f30 because images looked flat, SD14 because it's cumbersome. the DP1 is just so perfect in the mix and COOL looking too. people really like what they see. It's square and simple.

When I write this review I have the first firmware (0.4) and I expect some changes to be made as Sigma has done with the Sd14 but for me - as for right now - I can't live without this little cam.

If you have time to test it then give it a few more minutes than the regular P&S - and outside the store. Save images and take home. You will be blown away by the image quality.

Cons? a faster lens would be nice. I'd love F1.4 at the same size. haha. Not possible I guess. But wanted.
Higher resolution on video. I hope they can pull that off - and maybe with more options in video mode. (exposure, ISO, focus etc) - it has an incredibly cool looking film like video mode - but very small. 320x240.
The LCD could be brighter. Maybe even tiltable.

Lastly. If you have it make sure you use RAW. Use FAST SD card's (as I write this, the SanDisk Extreme III makes a difference. And turn off quick preview. Makes the cam much faster in operation.
