Sigma SD14 review
1
I have owned a SD10 and upgraded to the SD14 when the price dropped to a point
where I could not say no.
Some people point to the negatives of the SD14 but to me it is much better to use
than the SD10 and I am happy to find ways around performance issues.
This camera is not a point & shoot, you must think about what you want to achieve
and set the camera to accordingly.
Consumer glass will not begin to give the picture quality that the foveon sensor is
capable of, EX glass properly set up for the picture you want will give results that are
amazing, however it is easy to get average results if you do not get the settings
right.
One picture I took at a church christening when everything was "right" showed me
what this camera is capable of, I was well over 20 feet from the pulpit side on to it
and used a 24 - 70 EX lens handheld but braced against a pew & using a external
flash. Shooting RAW as always, when processed I enlarged the picture on the
computer screen and I was able to clearly read the passage being read from the
Bible.
Amazing stuff but you, the photographer must get the settings correct.
Problems:
None that cannot be worked around but plenty if you just point and shoot.
