Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 review

Great little camera in almost every way. Great lens, tons of features. I agree with most
of the positive comments posted about this camera (and like one other writer, I
bought the Canon G10 and returned it -- to heavy and clunky and this camera takes
far better photos).

Problems:

Unlike my Nikon P5000, you can't zoom while taking a video. That's a big
drawback if
you use the video feature frequently. Also, the removable lens cap is a big negative
for anyone who thinks they are going to use this as a "pocket" camera. It pops off
far
too easily - - it was a really dumb idea for such a high end camera. At the very least
they should have kept it attached with a small string or something.

[My bad - as another reviewer pointed out, there is a small string included to attach
the lens cap. So, I won't lose it. But, that does not stop it from popping off nearly
every time I put the camera in my bag. I have a Nikon D700 slr that I treat like
gold, but I like my compact digital to be a bit more rugged/casual and I like to
keep it with me in my briefcase or messenger bag all the time. The liens cap issue
is going to prevent me from doing that with this camera. ]
