Canon PowerShot G10 review

Never buy a DSLR unless you need long telephoto for birding or other specialist tasks. The G10 may be all you need, now and in the future. This is the first digital that for me feels like a real camera. What a brick! The real flash shoe was a major point for me. The posters who are critical of the pre-set scenic modes are off the wall and have not likely actually operated the G10.

Problems:

Optical viewfinder is rudimentary, good only for centring a shot. The manual contains technically illiterate sections, as for RAW file storage. The shipped software is old edition. The manual for the DPP module is not included, not even a tip-in card saying where it is online. The "EOS Utility sofware" does not support the G10, so why does it install? No notes on Canon raw codec or Windows Imaging component.
