Canon PowerShot SD990 IS (Digital IXUS 980 IS) review
Bought this camera to upgrade from the SD700 Elph. It takes very sharp pictures but it can't seem to handle far away bare trees. If lines are too close together, if you blow the picture up, you will see a smudging effect at various areas of the photo's. This degrades the image especially in wide angle landscape. Closer in it's as sharp as a needle. 14+ mp is too much for the sensor in this camera and you really don't get a much sharper picture, just bigger and more cropable one.
Smudging of image as result of noise reduction at wide angle landscape shots. This especially true of bare tree and bush detail as well as trees in the distance. This is true even at ISO 80.
Soft lens at the edges in wide angle landscape shots.
