Canon EOS 400D (EOS Digital Rebel XTi / EOS Kiss Digital X) review

Its my first DSLR - I upgraded from a Fuji S5600. I have had it for 9 months now.
It takes great pictures. Obviously good lenses will really let it shine. I am fortunate to be able to shoot with a 16-35L f/2.8 and 17-85mm IS plus the good ol' 50mm f/2.5 macro amongst others.

The annoying thing is the rather inconsistent exposure from the flash unit. I avoid using it as much as possible. With the Canon speedlites its all kosher.

Problems:

It recently sprouted an Err99 at 23K actuations. I absolutely tried everything as suggested on various online forums. All indications are that the shutter is buggered :-(. In my opinion 23K is a really low actuation count for any DSLR even an 'entry level' model like this one.
Unfortunately but not unexpectedly, this has soured my ownership experience. I took great care of my camera and I am considering upgrading to used 1Ds MkII or 5D MkI (haven't the werewithal at the moment). They are both built tougher and FF is something I would like to try.
