Canon EOS 500D (EOS Kiss Digital X3 / EOS Rebel T1i) review

I have the 10D, 30D and 400D. These are all great cameras but the the 500D is a
quantum advance over these in terms of features and image quality (especially
noise). For years I was a purist and always shot at iso 100-200, and VERY rarely at
iso 400. With the 500D my standard is now iso 800 and routinely shoot at 1600
with no discernible difference in noise. This results in an increase of 3-4 f stops
which is represents a huge increase in flexibility. I can now do hand held exposure
bracketing for HDR RAW with excellent results. The 720p video is a great "nice to
have."

Do note that the new sensor will out resolve most of the kit lenses and and images
may seem a little soft. I did my test images using the 85mm 1.8 and the resulting
images were extremely sharp.

Overall, a great camera that is very compact, ergonomic, very fast, with outstanding
image quality.

Problems:

The only problems are not with the camera but with the idiots who give one star
ratings and no review, They obviously don't own a camera and shouldn't be allowed
to contribute to reviews.
