Olympus FE-5020 (X-935) review
I've owned an FE-5020 for about three months now. Previous experience with Olympus products has taught me their quirks, so I've had no problem with working out the menu, features etc. Over time, they seem to be getting better on this. Startup times, etc. seem on par with a Stylus 9000 I also have; some folks may think it slow but I'm accustomed to it, no problems. The 5020 may actually be faster. Battery life has been satisfactory (all day outings with no need to recharge, over 100 images), write times to the xD card is faster than earlier FEs. I absolutely love the popart filters (also an E-620 owner), especially pinhole camera, and the exposure compensation previews (as with the 9000). Image is on par or better than with my Stylus, construction seems to be more plasticy than I prefer. My experience with the 5020 has been very positive for a point and shoot in its price range. 24mm equivalent at the wide end is the feature that attracted me most to this model.
Problems:
Camera slipped from a small height, and damaged lens mechanism which required repair. Serviced by Olympus, and returned in a very good time frame. No other complaints.
