Canon EOS 450D (EOS Digital Rebel XSi / EOS Kiss X2) review

I bought this as a twin lens kit. The lenses that came with it produce average-to-OK results but nothing too flash (photography humour :-). I've since added a Canon 100mm macro lens which I'm fairly happy with. Although I'm not getting the macro clarity I had expected, it's beautiful for portrait work. Please feel free to look at my photographs at Flickr - vwilliams.biz.

It's relatively easy to adjust the settings (as long as I can remember where they all are) and there are more than I'll ever use, but it's good to know they are there. The main ones are pretty much at your quick-to-access fingertips.

Overall, for approximately AU$2500 (which includes the added macro lens), I am getting results I am proud of. To complete my lens set, my next investment will be a wide-angle but, due to the cost of the Canon lens, I'll be settling on the cheaper Sigma 10-20mm.

Problems:

My main complaint: it is quite uncomfortable to hold for extended periods. My right hand gets sore/cramped as the camera is relatively heavy (for me) and uncomfortable to use.

I use SanDisk Extreme111 memory cards - whether it's the card or the camera, it can take a little long for the camera to stop being 'busy' and be ready for my next photo (frustrating if I'm trying to shoot consecutive shots quickly).

It’s not easy to disable the flash.
