Canon EOS 550D (EOS Rebel T2i / Kiss X4) review

using an ef-s 17-55/2.8, i agree with the other reviews on the
internet about this camera:

the image quality is remarkable, especially for 1600 and 3200
iso. some tests have shown that the quality is indistinguishable
from the 7d. iso 1600 shots are competely usable. (neurotic
"pixel peepers" may find their own things to worry about, but
the end result is clear and clean when viewed at something
reasonable.)

i haven't seen any review that compares photos from the 550d
and 500d and 50d, but the 7d showed improvements against
both of those. it is a definite improvement over the older rebels
such as the 400d, especially in high iso shooting.

i don't use the movie mode.

it's not a full-frame, but considering this camera is under a
grand, it is incredible what you get. you are going to have to
pay twice as much to get anything more than this.

if you are in the market for a 7d, you can decide whether to
spend the extra $1000 on advanced autofocus and the speed of
a 7d - or put it towards 50-70% of an L-quality lens. the
investment in the lens will definitely last longer than investing in
camera bodies that rapidly go obsolete.

Problems:

relatively simple 9 point autofocus, like all rebels. in extremely dark
situations that would've been impossible to shoot in before the
advent of this sensor, it's likely the sensor can handle the image
more than your lens can find and focus on it.
