Samsung NX10 review

This is the first and so far only Samsung product of any kind I have purchased and used. I have been using cameras of many different brands and types for the last 50 years and can say that the Samsung NX10 is one of the nicest and most user friendly of the lot. This mini review is after 4 weeks and several thousand exposures with the 18-55 and 50-200 zooms.
The NX10 is competitive on price with entry level DSLR's and posh compacts, on image quality with mid level DSLR's and on size / weight with micro four thirds cameras.
It is nice to hold and operate, has good ergonomics. Dials and buttons are well located , big enough to find and operate by feel. Menus are well laid out and easy to navigate. Image quality in JPG or RAW is excellent, with natural looking prints, smooth color gradations while retaining excellent resolution. Exposure and color balance are accurate and consistent. Autofocus ( one shot, single point ) is brisk and commendably accurate with a very high rate of shots correctly in focus. Manual focus is useful but might be better with a higher res EVF.
Nice features abound but I will mention one touch white balance using the depth preview button. This is fast and very accurate. The size and position of a single AF point can be quickly adjusted without having to take one's eye off the EVF, a very handy feature and better implemented on the NX10 than other cameras I have used. Chromatic aberration is almost completely absent from JPG's and RAW images presumably a result of post capture processing, and is very welcome.
The two zoom lenses deliver excellent high quality images and are remarkable value for money.

Problems:

I have encountered very few problems although the Samsung user forum has reported some. My wish list for a higher spec version of the NX would include: Better sport/action focus tracking, improved video operation, larger higher res EVF, faster processing speeds, automatic lens distortion correction, and lastly I think a proper camera should have a separate AF start/lock button, which I would locate just below and behind the main Mode dial.
