very good all walk-about lens for the price ...

For a kit lens, it is as sharp as more expensive 18-200mm VR II at less than 1/2 price. It has more useful range than the 18-55mm VR lens. I got it as a packaged kit lens with D90 back in 2008. In hindsight, I would have rather preferred to purchase the D90 body with the 18-200mm lens.

It is more sharper than the 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 FX lens. Very good overall image quality for a kit lens.
Focuses accurately and smoothly. Although not built like pro grade optics, the build quality is fine for consumer use. I take it places where I don't want to risk damaging more expensive glass.

Concerns regarding long-term durability issues with polycarbonate lens mount, although it hasn't ben a problem thus far after 3+ years of repeated on/off camera use.
