UPDATE from Pro who loved it

I can't see a way to update my original review, thus an additional one. See the "problems" section.

Problems:

I've noticed more out of focus shots that absolutely should have been in focus, despite being slower to focus in low light. But that's not my main gripe.

ISO IS LOCKED TO 80 FOR ANY EXPOSURE LONGER THAN 1". Yep. The s90 could do 2" or 4" or 8" or 15" at any ISO on the camera. So could the s95. I had both. Loved it. I took those cameras on my wilderness trips (canoe, XC skiing, mountaineering, hiking, etc). Often I would take really cool shots at night via moonlight, or of the stars, or of mountains. No more. The s100 is simply not capable of it due to Canon's engineering lockout of any ISO higher than 80. This is NOT an improvement. A shot with the s100 at 1" ISO 6400 is TERRIBLE compared to an 8" shot at ISO 800 on a s95. And a 15" shot at ISO 80 is nearly useless for starlight or moonlit landscapes. This is pathetic. My ancient Ricoh GX100 could do exposures five MINUTES long that were awesome. Hey, if I wanted to haul my 5DII or 1Div into the boonies, I could ... but then I wanted a small camera so I would not have to to it.

If it were a technical impossibility, I could see the point. But this is going BACKWARDS well over two generations. I think it stinks. I really hope they change this with a firmware update. The camera has so many other great things going for it. Why do this?
