A Great Camera

This is my 8th digital camera, (had Rico RDC 2E, Pentax WP33, Pentax 720SW, Olympus 1030, Olympus 8010, Sony TX5, Panasonic FT3). I've stopped using the FT3 (only 4 months old ) because the inside of the lens has fogged up a couple of times when swimming in 1 mt of water. Not interested in going the warranty claim route - much rather throw it in the bin & not buy another Panasonic. Anyway, on to the TG-820. I'll update this post as I use the camera more. I wanted to post early because this camera is a winner and those contemplating buying one should go ahead. From the minute you turn on this camera you can't help but be impressed. It's ready to take a photo in 1 sec and focusses just a quickly. The weight & size is more than acceptable. The menu system appears to be the same as in the 1080 but because they've got rid of that silly "loose nipple joystick", it's easy & logical to navigate. There's even an option to save your changes to settings (like I had in the Pentax 720SW), this is very useful. 12Mp is more than enough & the LCD is brilliant. The CMOS does a good job in low light and pictures are good to ISO 400. The mechanical stabilization appears to really work - better than electronic ones. Continuous drive works a treat with many choices. As yet I haven't taken much video, but I will in the next few weeks & post my opinion.

Problems:

As it comes only with a charger that plugs into camera you can't use camera while battery is charging. I purchased another battery and charger so I can use camera while spare battery is on charge. If your serious about taking photos you need two batteries and a charger.
