This suits me just fine...

I had wanted the RX100 (and still do!) but the G15 is much cheaper, easier to hold, has a viewfinder (ok, not the best, but it has one), a faster lens, better IS, and seems more DSLR-like (to me, anyway).

I compared shots with the G12. Flash not needed when sometimes it is with the G12. The smaller size is very nice and the Digic 5 pays dividends. IQ really good and macro is excellent. The camera just works under nearly all conditions.
The dials and wheels are great. To me, its competition is the X10 and maybe the LX7. Canon customer service (plus it uses the same battery as the G12) made the decision even easier. Orbs turned me off. The LX7 was a closer call.

What I don't like? I wish it had better video. For some reason (microphone placement?) zoom noise is high. 24 p is slow. Having a 1/3 inch sensor would be nice, too. I do wish it started at 24mm rather than 28mm, but at least the 28 is at 1.8 unlike 1.8 maximum aperture cameras that start at 1.8 and increase at 28mm.
