I agree with the strategy to pick the lens based on focal length vs. brand. I used to own a great 28 (1.4) and replaced it with the 35 1.4. The 28 was perfect for me when I shot DX. I have the 24 1.4 as well which has become one of the first lenses I reach for when I'm shooting land/cityscape.
