Re: A35 upgrade to......

I made the step from A35 to A57 a while ago.

My wife wanted to start with photography and I took the opportunity passing over the A35 to her and buying a new A57.

The things I like of the A57 over the A35:

  • better evf  (all basic info is displayed outside the image frame)
  • focus peaking  (much easier manual focussing)
  • articulated screen (very usefull when shooting macro)
  • larger body with better ergonomics (at least for me)
  • more advanced white balance finetuning
  • better battery life
  • card slot on the right side of the body instead of in the battery compartment, making it better accessible when the camera is on a tripod.
  • movie button can be disabled when shooting stills, although it still shows an annoying message when accidentally pressed. I also hit it less often then on the A35 by the way, since it's not next to the exposure compensation button.
  • slightly better high iso performance

additional features with no added value to me:

  • higer fps in continuous mode
  • 50/60p video modes
  • more manual controls in video mode
  • digital zoom (clear image zoom)
