Do you have any zone-focusing pix you could share?

I've been trying real hard to zone-focus with my 17/1.8 but am having a devil of a job. The markings on the lens barrel are just too vague.

Hey Scott,

What do you mean the markings are too vague? How are you using them?

I may be looking for my first micro four thirds camera... but I shot Leica and Contax rangefinders for a LONG time. As well as old film. And doing street and weddings, I mainly used the zone focus techniques.

If you can show us wheat you are wondering, I may be able to help.

Just look at the pictures of those lenses when the MF snap focus is activated and you will see what that means :

Here is a picture of the 12mm F2 (which I own) : you get Fstops markings, but only for F5.6, F11 and F22; given diffraction I rarely use F11 and above, so only F5.6 is useful. There are none for F8, nor for larger apertures than F5.6. Further on the distance ring, there are no scale markings, just types and there are no indication between 3m and infinite.. You could as well just use the old saying : F8 and provided you don't focus too near, everything should be infocus till infinite.

It doesn't look much better on the 17mm F1.8 :

By the way, Lenstip.com has reviewed both the 12mm  and the 17mm . The are a little too harsh on the 17mm. It isn't as bad as they make it.. Look at the MFT graphs, not too much at their conclusions..
