Re: Anyone try new NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G on D800

Mine just shipped.  I will post a review of it as soon as I have a chance to check it out.  This lens was what I was looking for in terms of weight, angle of view and size.  I fully expect it will be optically good but won't know that until I use it.  Most of my photography is on a tripod at optimal apertures so I get good performance out of most lenses.  Coming from Pentax, the 12-24 was my most used lens so this on the D600 should be virtually identical.  I considered the 16-35 Nikkor and the 16-28 Tokina but was put off by size and weight and in the case of Nikkor, size, weight, filter size and cost. I try not to get hung up on other people's opinion of what is "good glass".  My most used kit is 20mm f/2.8 Nikkor, 50 f/1.8 Nikkor and 100 f/2.8 Tokina Macro.  I also have and am very pleased with the 24-85 "kit" lens.
