Does not prove DxOMark wrong, the tests mirror the results here

Remember DxOMark reveals the P-MP score at its *best* setting which it considers the best focal length *and* aperture with a heavy bias towards wide open due to superior transmission.  However higher transmission or wider open shots often comes at the cost of sharpness for many lenses while stopping down often equalizes sharpness for many lenses.

In my mind I prefer FF systems because they are indeed sharper to my eyes at wider apertures or shallower DOF.  Once stopped down however its a complete wash.  It's also a wash for really sharp telephotos where APS-C actually gets some reach advantage anyhow.

For many portrait focal length primes I think its a sweet spot for FF IMO.

In any case just break down the sharpness scores at f8 or f11 for the 7D or 5D and you'll see the results closely mirror what I see in these samples.
