Find Thom's reviews quite thought provoking

The one thing I would say about Thom is he has a very direct style and is quite thought provoking - something I find quite helpful. I contacted him recently ref my current thoughts about upgrading from my trusty D300 to either a D600 or D800 (I've been torn between the two). Having set out my photography interests he surprised me by suggesting that the new D7100 might be a better bet for me - as he said 'Didn't see that coming, did you?'. And I hadn't! But he made a fair point (or points) which, as I replied to him, are now 'food for thought'.

As to the original topic - I thought his review of the D600 was well balanced. Personally I think the best way to approach reviews is to have two or three people / sources whose views you have appreciated over a period of time and consider them collectively when making a decision. For me, Thom is one of those trusted sources.

But I still can't make my mind up as to which camera to go for! Yet.....
