Thanks, that explains it - another iMac with a similar screen and resolution.

Unfortunately, my initial attempts at increasing magnification using your method seem to have failed. The TX1's super-macro mode auto focusing system might be the problem.

That's disappointing.  I assume you're using a reversed lens with your TX1?  I've found with my ZS20 plus reversed lens that I need to use the AF in conjunction with very slightly and carefully raising or lowering the setup on the tripod to get proper focus.  I wonder if you could try that, and perhaps try the normal macro setting on your TX1 and see if that helps?
