Re: X10 or aps-c? Dilemma.

I own an X10 and a Nikon DSLR (D5100) with zoom and prime lenses.  On our last trip I took only the X10 and brought back very satisfying images in many kinds of light with many subjects. Was it as good as the DSLR would've been? No. But I wasn't looking for critical performance. The X10 didn't bog me down, and I shot a lot of jpegs using its excellent DR characteristics. If I were traveling for marketable or exhibition quality photos I'd have taken the DSLR. It holds the critical edge. But I'm old enough to not want the load of a bag of lenses hanging on my shoulder all day when traveling for enjoyment. How critical are your quality expectations? Is it worth carrying a heavier load? If not, the X10 is very capable of bringing back fine quality visual memories. It's light and relatively fast.
