TRUE ISO 3200 - NX1000 better than OM-D and X-Pro1 - have a look!

In this thread:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3390287?page=3

I was encouraged by tecnoworld to show a comparison between a Samsung, the OM-D and the X-Pro1 at the same true ISO (same shooting conditions).

Therefore I took the following RAW files from imaging-resource, which had about the same exposure time and the same aperture setting - which corresponds to the same shooting conditions,

independent of what the camera settings (especially in regard of ISO) claim.

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/omd-em5/EXIF/EM5hSLI06400NR0.HTM

OM-D: F8 @ 1/640 s

X-Pro1: F8 @ 1/500 s

NX1000: F8 @ 1/500 s

I assumed that imaging-resource took the same light source with the same intensity and

that the difference between the used lenses isn't that big in regard of light transmission.

So that we can assume that the conditions are close to a well done real life side by side comparison.

I wanted to use the same RAW converter for this test, to keep it as real as possible...

...however (the often used) Lightroom 4.3 could not open the Fuji file, so I used Silkypix Pro 5 (which I prefer anyway).

All files were corrected according the gray patches of the colorchecker target to achieve about the same brightness, only color noise reduction was used at 50%, saturation was reduced in favor of details where it was needed, color was not corrected and no sharpening was applied, the NX1000 file was in addition downsampled from 20 MP to 16 MP to match the output size of the X-Pro1:

I think that one can clearly see who is the winner and why it is important to have a high ISO accuracy within the camera settings, which are provided by the manufactures.

U see, that the commonly used comparison based on camera ISO settings can lead to wrong conclusions, if the TRUE ISO isn't taken into account!

-

Now, You probably know, why I decided to buy a NX1000 instead of a X-Pro1 or a OM-D.
