I have taken the liberty to do a bit of post work in Lightroom...just to demonstrate the possibilities. Part of the problem here is the underexposure of the background. Lightroom work was done with Shadows and Clarity only, applied to the whole local adjustments. Took me 30 seconds.

Here is another option that was suggested. To see more of the bird, and in a vertical format.

Despite the small sensor on the SX50HS it has held up well to the heavy cropping I made on this image, indicating you executed a sharp and fine exposure of the main subject.
