collapsible background vs backrgound stand with muslin

hello guys

I'm new to here, glad to be here, finally

I just started to shoot portraits of my friends, most of them are cool musicians.

They asked me to take some shots to make flyers for recital, or concert, or something else and

I started to buying stuff for lighting, such as light stand, umbrella, softbox, two flashes, receiver

and trigger(not like pocket wizard or expensive like that, I own cheap one that doesn't have a

TTL function).

I've been taking few shots using those and slowly learning but the one thing that I don't like

is always background.

There are few people that willing to pay little cash for this, so I need to buy one of backdrops.

so, here is a question.

I'm shooting adult with his/her instrument, it can be head shot or full length body shot.

adding to that, most of the times I need black background but grey with some cool patterns

would be good, too.

what would you recommend to buy?
