Re: What camera for panoramics?

If you are happy with in-camera JPEG panoramics without too many options then the Fuji X-E1 does a pretty good job.

You can select the 'angle' -- long side pixel count -- to 5120 or 7680. You also have the option of panning in any of the 4 cardinal directions, giving a choice of 2160 or 1440 pixels on the short side, depending on the camera orientation relative to the pan direction.

You shoot by keeping the shutter button pressed whilst continuously panning -- it will complain if you pan too fast. It appears to use a series of slices about 150 pixels wide, which is probably to minimise parallax effects in stitching.

I've just done a quick test with an 18mm (27mm FF equiv) lens and the horizontal angle comes to 180 degrees as near as I can judge.

I can post some examples if anyone is interested.

Every photograph is an abstraction from reality.
