As others have mentioned, the 24-105mm L will be a slight downgrade, and will have around 5% worse resolution, though the differences should be difficult to tell. While comparing the 15-85mm on crop to the 24-105mm on full frame would result in the full frame lens being almost 140% better (2.4 times as good).

From DxO :

15-85 on 7D - 8 P-Mpix

24-105 on 7D - 8 P-Mpix

24-105 on 5D2 - 12 P-Mpix

So it's more like 50% better area resolution (22% linear) on 21mp FF than on 18mp APS-C, not 140%.

comparisons of what it would look like in real pictures with dxo across formats - across formats with dxo - across formats -- has been repeated in this forum -- is nonsense with dxo.

show us visuals - real pictures - it means nothing in blind tests with real pictures -  up to 20x30

credibility of the site overall -- dxo has my previous 40d in overall rating ahead of my T4i -  which is nonsense.  The site has numbers - numbers - numbers - but what do these numbers mean in terms of real photographs?  I see real pictures where I know that some of their numbers will and continue to confuse people searching for the answers thru numbers
