Thanks mate.

Well I don't think S95/S100 has that much better IQ to give up on the 400% extra OZ of SX240 or even more of SX40, am I wrong?

That depends on your mileage sir. Ask yourself how often do you need 400% zoom versus a nice close up photos. The sensor is twice as big in S line, so the images will be that much better/clearer. 24mm-100mm is not bad, you will get a good room full of people and great IQ. Due to the sensor size, you will be able to crop to an equivalent of a 200mm shot and still have the same IQ as the SX240. So while you are only giving up almost half the zoom, you are gaining so much in IQ for landscape photos, for portraits, for dinner table photos, group photos, party photos. Not to mention larger sensors have much better low light performance.

I prefer to loose out on the zoom since you need excellent image stabilization and a steady hand to really use it. Some useful reading

Thanks for that link sir. I've read it totally and now I'm tending towards the bigger sensor I guess! Damn, so much confusions! along with my utterly depressed mood caused by a football game...

Let's see...

Why don't you compare the SX260 1/2.3 to the S110 1/1.7 in the Image resource comparometer:

http://www.imaging-resource.com/IMCOMP/COMPS01.HTM

just select SX260 on the left and S110 on the right then enlarge the ISO800 images to full size.  I can't see much difference and that's because the 1/2.3 BSI-CMOS shoots above its size rating compared to the 1/1.7 CMOS.
