I can't comment on this camera from my personal experience, but you might ask some Pentax users about the K5.  From what I've read recently, it sounds like it was built for low light.  Not sure how fast AF is in low light, though.  The price has dropped to about $750 I believe, since its replacement has come out (which has incredible user reviews, but is about $1100 or $1200 depending on the version - there is a Pentax K5ii and a Pentax K5iis, not sure of the differences between these two).  Some of the Pentax and Nikon's use Sony's APS-C sensor, btw, so image quality is similar.  The processing engine is what sets them apart.  Just think you might want to look into it and get more info than I can tell you.
