is there much difference between the d-lux 3 and the d-lux 4??

would i notice the difference in the images, or is it just the camera controls that are different.

also, how does the x1 compare to the d-lux series??

I had both DL3 and 4. The difference in IQ is very noticeable! DL4 is one of the best P&S made to date and all those who had can confirm it!... Many of them did not upgrade to DL5 and still use it! I should have done the same!...

X1 is a completely different camera and category! It is made by leica and not by Panasonic like DLux! It is larger and has a larger sensor. But it also has a fixed lens (no zoom). It is also much more expensive! It is certainly a very good camera, but I have never really been interested in because it is not quite "Portable" for me and I need a zoom for a portable camera! The price also was not very appealing to me!

I know how difficult it is for you, Paul, to find a camera that you would like!... So, good luck to you, my friend! :-)

Paul, check this Choi's thread very carefully. True that both Choi and his lovely wife, P, are very seasoned photographers; but these shots can give you an idea. The first is shot with DL4 and the last, third, with M9!...

Oh, BTW; aren't you planning to change your username?... Nikon doesn't go very well with this forum! ;-) ;-)

( I am a Nikon user, myself ;-) )

Panasonic!... Leica Dlux cameras are the same as Panasonic LX cameras!
