I have read many complaints about the X series 'focus by wire' system which say that it takes to much turning of the focus ring i.e. it is not fast enough.

This behaviour must be controlled in the firmware and therefore it should be possible to allow the user to change it.

E.g have a new firmware setting which allows you to specify the following:

Focus ring:

-- hide signature --

Auto (intelligent): i.e. non-linear behaviour - faster turn is greater focus change

--Auto (linear)

--User: 720 - 1 degrees i.e. a turn of this many degrees is required to go from maximum to minimum focus.

Once you have the third (User) setting implemented then the firmware could also allow you to store particular values against particular lenses.
