Regardless of if you think it's a good or a bad day, the reality is that the U.S. budget will be _greater_ in 2013 than it was in 2012 even if sequestration stays in effect with no changes. The 2012 budget was $3.538 Trillion, after sequestration the 2013 budget will be $3.553 Trillion. This is a $15 Billion increase.

And by the way, the sequestration, if it is unchanged, is approximately 2% to 2.5% of the federal budget.

One last note, congress offered to give Mr. Obama power to change the rules of the cuts and make them anywhere he thought they should be made. He refused to consider this offer.
