I wouldn't worry about ISO settings. I think it's a bad idea--and a bad habit--for a beginner.

Even to this day, I still follow what I learned in my high school photography class.

in daylight, use 100

in cloudy skies use 400

at dusk use 800

at night use 1600

...after that, you're on your own with the other settings (shutter, apperture, light meter)

That is real manual.

Eventually, you will learn exactly what you need.
