Minolta 28-135, not me

I've had this lens and I hated it. It had veiling and hazing wide open. Clearly some sort of "Spherical Aberration". It screwed up the AF system, because AF happens wide open. When taking the photo stopped down, the focus shifted backwards. Backfocus way too often. Plus it's *heavy* and *clumsy*. Major zoom creep problems. It can produce sharp images, sure, but so can my Tamron 17-50 f2.8, Sony 55-200, and heck, my Minolta 28-105 xi too!

Bad copy? I'm not so sure. Are you absolutely sure that you're not seeing any kind of veiling of sorts wide open, that goes away stopping down 1/3 even?
