I'm not claiming anything just that it's obvious that Canon/Nikon and other major manufactures are using more MP's as more of a marketing scheme as there are even P&S cameras that do over 20MP easily.

Agreed. It's matter of quality not quantity of pixels to me. You don't need mushy 18mp, a clean 10mp such as the one below already can show difference at this size or even at 2000-pixel wide.

100% cropped, how clean and sharp at full size

Also, never heard of the "7D Classic".

LOL, 7D never will be classic in photography world from perspective of IQ and performance. There is a reason why many call original 5D 5D classic - time, uniqueness, IQ that still can withstand today's DSLRs after 8 years at 2000-pixel wide or 26" print wide below ISO 1600!

The D700 is a better camera than the 7D though because it has better high iso performance, better dynamic range, and distinguishes more colors which are all valuable if you're a wedding/event shooter.

Absolutely D700 also can shoot 8fps. 7D is only better in pixel density when you're unable to move closer or don't have long lens such as in birding case.

I agree. Stick an 85 1.8 on one of these older 8-12MP body's and you have a match made in heaven when it comes to portraiture.

How about ISO 1250 from 10mp 1D3 at 2000-pixel wide that is more than 50% cropped
