Shakeout in the mirrorless market

I'm not sure that the discontinuation of one camera indicates a shakeout in the mirrorless market. The K01 has been rumored to be discontinued for some time now. It wasn't a true mirrorless option in that it used SLR lenses.

But the fact is that there are a lot of mirrorless options right now and the market probably can't support so many models. We also can't ignore that there are different markets. What is popular in Japan may not be popular in America. For example, the Pentax Q is very popular in Japan, but so-so in America.

The K01 was an odd bird and I don't think it's discontinuation means anything more than it was simply not the right approach.
