I'm shootin' D300, 24-70 is not wide enough

I was also thinking on investing into a 24-70, but I very often wanted to go wider. So after lot of hesitation I opted for the 16-85VR which is almost welded to my D300 since. Its not faultless, because geometric distortions are bothersome, but the 24-70 also distorts at its wide end. But compared to the 16-85 the 24-70 is in a different category.

Have you thought about going "north" and buying a D600? A 24-70 would be ideal on FF.
