Instead of calling it a 3D effect
You could say Foveon images have a "you can walk into the picture" effect. That's what I see when viewing some pictures taken with my DP1s.
This print struck me that way too
The effect seems not quite so noticeable online; that's why experiencing prints can be different than online viewing.
